Major coursework included: existential-humanistic and transpersonal theories of psychology, Buddhist psychology, mindfulness and meditation for health, ethics of spiritually oriented care, psychophysiology, and qualitative research methods in the human sciences. While working on my Ph.D., I studied for a year in weekly consultation with expert Acceptance and Commitment Therapy trainer Dr. Robyn Walser. My doctoral dissertation was a qualitative study of the positive and growth-oriented social psychology of gay men.

Major coursework included: theories of human development; clinical assessment and diagnosis; clinical ethics; treatment of individuals, relationships, and families; and various approaches to psychotherapy, including existential-humanistic, transpersonal, psychodynamic, and somatic. While in school, I served as the Interim San Francisco Crisis Services Manager for The Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ+ young people. I also completed a two-year clinical traineeship with Queer LifeSpace in the Castro. After graduating in 2013, I worked for two years as a Restorative Justice counselor for youth on probation in Alameda County while beginning my private practice with Dino Di Donato at the Market St. Center for Psychotherapy in San Francisco.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

As a lifelong learner, I exceed the continuing education requirements of my licensing boards. That’s the best way I know to avoid burnout and continue developing my skills to provide ethical, trauma-sensitive, and culturally responsive care for my clients.
